Juvenile Crimes & Offenses

In the juvenile justice system, there are few rights for the accused. Let me represent your child.

I understand that it is stressful and very difficult if your child has committed an act that has led to juvenile charges. You may be wondering about the consequences. The Law Office of Evan George is here to protect your child’s future, their record, ability to go to college, to drive, and their freedom. You are the most knowledgeable person about what your child needs. I can assist you with finding resources like therapy, counseling, and other treatment options, to get your child back on the right path. I want to help keep your child out of the criminal justice system.

There are two types of juvenile cases, delinquency and dependency. Dependency cases involve situation where the child is taken by social services due to concerns for a child’s wellbeing. Delinquency cases arise from the criminal conduct a child has engaged in. While the adult criminal justice system is geared towards punishment, the juvenile justice system is geared towards rehabilitation. The procedures, goals, and consequences of the two systems are dramatically different.

The Law Office of Evan George can help advocate for informal supervision, depending on the charges, with the charges dismissed after the probationary period. If your child is charged with a felony, then it still may be possible that they will qualify for Deferred Entry of Judgment with the charges dismissed if they behave well and meet certain requirements for a specific time period.

Your child needs an advocate. A judge hears all evidence and there is no jury. Your child could be deemed a ward of the court and removed from you, placed in juvenile hall, or committed to the California Youth Authority. Your child has a right to an attorney and I can be there to protect your child’s interest every step of the way. In some cases your child may be charged and tried as an adult. If your child has been charged as an adult, then contact me right away.
